More Than 3000 Evacuated

There are 3648 people currently being sheltered at 82 evacuation centres across the western and central divisions, says Akapusi Tuifagalele.
“Of this, 3592 evacuees are from the West and 56 people are from the Central Division,” he said.
The director National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), made the confirmation at 4pm yesterday afternoon.
He said schools and church halls were also being used as evacuation centres.
Mr Tuifagalele said it was imperative for parents to watch out for their children’s whereabouts while the Government tries its best to ensure wellness and safety of the Fijian people.
The Commissioner Western’s Office has confirmed that floodwater levels have increased drastically to warning levels in the last 24 hours.
Rakiraki recorded 3.04 metres which was 0.54 metres above warning level, Toge Village recorded 4.41m which was 1.59m above warning level, Keasi recorded 7.43m which was 2.43m above warning level, Votualevu recorded 7.70m which was 2.70m above warning level, Nadi Bridge with 6.36m which was 2.86m above warning level, Navolau recorded the highest being 9.66m which was 1.66m above warning level, Mulomulo recorded 3.85m which was 0.15m above warning level, Nabukalevu recorded 3.74m which was 0.74m above warning level, Tuva with 5.52m which was 1.02m above warning level and Nairuku recorded 4.44m which was 0.60m above warning level.
