A family of Sabeto Village, in Nadi, is mourning the loss of their father whose body was found floating in the Sabeto River yesterday.

Seventy-year-old Filipe Nakeleya was reported missing on Monday afternoon.

His body was found by a search party consisting of Police officers and villagers.

The victim’s wife, Merewai Naseka, 59, said their family was still in shock after hearing the tragic loss of their father.

“What hurts the most that we did not talk before his death,” she said.

“He came home at around 5pm that day and dropped a bag of wet clothes and left. That was the last time we met.”

His daughter, Sainiana Nai,  said they would miss their dear father.

The late Mr Nakeleya is survived by six children and nine grandchildren.

Police spokesperson Naina Ragigia said the victim was reported missing at the Sabeto Police Station at around 7pm on Monday.

Ms Ragigia said a post-morterm was expected to be conducted soon as investigations continue.
