Binesh Prasad’s bail hearing next month

 

A man who allegedly set fire to a home in Narere claiming the lives of three family members and two tenants yesterday appeared before Justice Salesi Temo at the High Court in Suva.

Binesh Prasad, 31, is charged with a first count of arson, second to sixth count of murder, seventh count of attempted murder and eighth count of damage to property.

The High Court in Suva has set a bail hearing for Prasad for May 6.

The trial hearing for Prasad has been set for January 30 till February 10 next year.

The court has heard that on October 15 last year, Prasad allegedly, willfully, set fire to a home in Narere, Navosai, which allegedly claimed the lives of five victims.

The five dead as a result of the alleged arson, were his father-in-law Jai Narayan, 54, his daughter Prishika Devi, 10, his and wife Uleshni Irene Lata, 28, and a couple who were tenants; Imran Ali and Faria Ali.
