The Bank of the South Pacific has partnered with the South Pacific Tourism Exchange as major sponsors for a regional event to be held in Australia’s gold Coast in May.

The three-year sponsorship will ensure that the regional tourism exchange can cater for 160 tourism operators from the 16 member states of the South Pacific Tourism Organisation including tourism wholesale buyers and agents from around the world.

BSP Country Manager ,Kevin McCarthy said the two-day event will be hosted at Australia’s Sea World Resort Convention Centre from the 20th-21st May.

He said they are proud to support the initiative by SPTO to develop the region’s tourism market in its 16 member country.

“We recognize that tourism plays an integral role in local island economies already and it holds potential to contribute even more to GDP and national growth,”Mr McCarthy said.

“We are encouraged by the opportunity it offers budding entrepreneurs who provide niche experience in their localities. These form the engine room for growth in local island economies which we serve.

“This tourism exchange will nurture a regional and global co-operation amongst industry stakeholders and as the leading financial services provider in the South Pacific, this partnership places us in the right place at the right time to offer our service and advice.”
