Club Staff Clean Up For 7s Tourney

The staff of the New Nadi Farmers Club had to clear more than 30 centimetres of sludge in the aftermath of Cyclone Zena to prepare for patrons during  the Hong Kong 7s weekend.

“We all worked scrapping and pushing the mud out as much as we could; today (yesterday) the water level was about one metre deep,” director Tracey Farrington said.

Ms Farrington said she decided with her husband Tom to re-open in time for the Hong Kong 7s tournament.

She said being situated on the edge of the Nadi River was devastating which they experienced on Monday when the floods from the river engulfed the premises with about 1.5 metres of river water and mud.

“Tuesday the water level came down, we knew there was more to come but we started to clean up anyway, there was over 30 cm of mud,” Ms Farrington said.

Ms Farrington said on behalf of her husband Tom and son Jayden she thanked her seven dedicated staff who cleared the premises from the ground level up to the first level.
