Sevens Fever Worth $10,000

Domestic flights were cancelled on Wednesday because of the weather warnings. But these die-hard sevens fans from Savusavu were determined not to miss their flight to Hong Kong on Thursday.

So they chartered a plane for a little over $10,000, to get from Labasa to Nadi International Airport, not to miss their flight to Hong Kong.

Tuwere tipped

India could soon have the very able former Fiji Sun journalist Josua Tuwere joining our High Commission team in New Delhi.

He will no doubt be an asset, as he has shown already since moving to Foreign Affairs.

Mr Tuwere also brings to the role some knowledge of the territory. He has worked in Bangladesh and travelled extensively in India.

TV advantage

No longer showing Fiji One News on Sky Pacific may just work in favour of Fiji TV. But we don’t expect the usual suspects to see this or talk sense.

Vinaka, Tonga

Thank you again to the Tongans.

First one of their navy boats was first into Vanuabalavu with help after Cyclone Winston.

Now Tonga Power Limited is sending a top team to help Fiji Electricity Authority with the massive job of restoring power lines in the West.

Tonga Power’s boss said:  “I’m sure if Cyclone Winston had hit Tonga harder, Fijians wouldn’t hesitate to lend their support.”
