Students who want to represent Fiji at the Melanesian Games will have to perform to their ultimate best at the Coca-Cola Games.

This was the message from Athletics Fiji president, Joe Rodan Snr who said the selection to the Melanesian Games now rest entirely on the athletes.

“Those who perform well during the Coca-Cola games will be considered for the Melanesian Games provided their times are good,” he said.

Athletics Fiji is having the second Grand Prix series at the ANZ Stadium, Suva today as build-up to the Games.

Rodan said the Grand Prix that was planned for Ba had been moved to Suva because of the current weather conditions.

“We have a competition in Suva tomorrow (today) and next week Saturday. It’s lead-up to the Coke Games so this will be good for athletes who are representing their schools and wishing to qualify for the Melanesian Games.

“They should come down and check out their running times.

Today’s second round of the Grand Prix series starts at 2pm.
