Sauto In, Savu Out

The Telecom Fijiana team will be missing the services of Nate Savu in tomorrow’s (Fiji time) Atlanta 7s in Georgia, USA.
Savu sustained an injury during training and is replaced by Jiowana Sauto, confirms Fiji Rugby Women coaching director Chris Cracknell.
“The girls have settled in very well, we’ve had three rugby sessions and two gym sessions and they are excited to get things under way,” Cracknell said.
“Sadly we lost Nate Savu to injury the other day which is a major blow with how impressive she’s been in training. But Jiowana Sauto has come in for her and it was a tough call between them in the first place.”
Cracknell said with the slight hiccup of Savu being out he believes they still have a strong team and are excited to see what debutant Matila Waqanidrola has to bring to the table.
Waqanidrola is the former national netball skipper.
“We have focused on the breakdown, connections in attack and defence and we’re doing this under fatigue,” he said.
“It’s good to have a fit Rebecca Tavo and I’m excited to see how Matila Waqanidrola will play her first tournament for Fijiana.”
The Fijiana side did not have any warm-up matches this time around before the tournament due to other teams arriving late.
The Fijiana side are pooled with Women’s Sevens Series leaders, Australia, England and Colombia in the Atlanta 7s.
