Why You Should Consider Planning Your Next Vacation To Singapore

Great news is Fiji Airways now has two direct flights into Singapore weekly. So you get to explore a whole new country. Of course the special introductory air fare helps.

Already it is understood the flights next week are full with so many people coming to watch our Vodafone Fijian 7s team in action during the Singapore 7s.

So what can you do in Singapore?

To explore this, Fiji Airways in partnership with Singapore Tourism Board, brought in journalists from five Fijian media organisations to experience firsthand what Fijians can do in Singapore.

Of course it is a great place to shop around especially if you love your branded stuff. But there is much more and which I will be reflecting upon in greater detail in the coming days.

However, I would understand if you are initially a bit reluctant of going to Singapore considering the reports indicating it is one of the more expensive cities in the world.

But this is not so if you plan your trip- and do as the lcoals do.

Singapore is only 710 square kilometres in size with a population of around 5.5 million. So yes it is smaller than the size of Taveuni.

You can imagine how easy it is to get around places with distances being so short.

In addition, there is a very reliable public transport infrastructure setup which is available 24-7 and includes trains and buses.

Even taxis are affordable.

If you feel you will end up paying 100s of dollars travelling in a taxi, you might want to consider the distance travelled.

Because Singapore is so small, everything is within a few minutes drive away so you would not end up paying so much for taxis.

Of course the other cheaper and reliable options are buses and trains which run 24-7. No need to worry about your safety as it is indeed one of the safest cities you would come across where there is hardly any crimes.

A good indication would be Singapore has on an yearly basis, less than 10 murders and this too mainly done by foreigners.

Walking on the street – no one would dare to pickpocket you or harass you because the laws are so strict that if caught, the punishment will be very severe.

Singapore is very unlike when you travel to Australia, New Zealand and USA and end up spending hours in travelling to get to your destination – say for example if you want to visit a zoo.

In Singapore, you just have to travel less than 30 minutes from the City to get to the Singapore Zoo. In fact, most places are less than 30 minutes away.

So for one, you don’t have to travel for hours and thus you save up on time plus it becomes less tiring and you can spend more time enjoying the adventure and thrill.

And you don’t have to pay so much for travel either.

On our first day outing, we went to the Singapore Zoo, the Singapore River Bumboat ride which gave us a scenic tour of Singapore City harbour front, a visit to the popular Marina Bay Sands where we went up all the way to level 57 and got an aerial view of Singapore City.

Of course a slight glimpse of the Infinity Pool as well.

We also visited the popular Gardens by the Bay.

Details of all these attractions will be appearing in the Fiji Sun in the coming days.

Overall, Singapore is a well-developed modern country which presents a lot of excitement for Fijians looking for adventure and some fun and thrill.

So if you are indeed planning your next trip, you should try considering Singapore.

Fiji Airways flights to Singapore depart Nadi every Tuesday and Friday at 11pm.
