The youths of Kinoya, got together yesterday to honour their heroes for winning the national men’s title at the Fiji Volleyball Federation’s 2016 Crest Chicken Easter Championship.

The Salvation Army band led the victory march, which started from the Kinoya Top Shop with team supporters joining in the celebration

Kinoya Volleyball Association secretary Joeli Dulaki said the march was to thank the players and officials for their hard work.

“They are the champions of our community along with our women’s team that won the Vulaca Championship earlier this year,” he said.

“We also acknowledged our under-20 team who won the Easter Games championship and it is also a new beginning for the boys as they have stamped their mark in the sport.

“They had trained hard and they deserve our appreciation.”

Dulaki said the support from former reps had been tremendous during the championship as they passed on their knowledge of the game to the young player.

The Kinoya One’s men volleyball side beat Raiwaqa 2-0 in the Super Premier final at the FMF Gymnasium while the Kinoya Two side defeated Mid Central Two in the Premier final 2-0 and the Kinoya Juniors won the U20 final, edging out Raiwai 2-1.
