A 29-year-old man is in Police custody for an alleged hit and run accident involving a farmer of Naluwai Village in Naitasiri on Friday night.

It is alleged the farmer was riding his bicycle along Naluwai Road when he was hit.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the farmer was now admitted at the Vunidawa Hospital in Naitasiri.

“The driver fled the scene after the accident but Police managed to arrest him later at Princes Road in Tamavua,” Inspector Weicavu said.

“We are now awaiting the medical report of the farmer and when he will be discharged from the hospital, we will get his statement and then charge the driver.”

Police investigations are continuing.
