The Fiji Police Force is advising parents to make sure their children are safe before leaving the house.

This is after two kids below the age of five were found standing and crying on Emily Road in Labasa yesterday.

A passing by private vehicle driver saw them and asked where their parents were but they could not reply.

Later the driver took them to Labasa Police Station.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu confirmed that the Labasa Police officers received this report and immediately took the kids to search for their parents.

“The Police officers were able to find their house which was about few kilometres away from the spot they were found,” Inspector Weicavu said.

“Upon arrival the officers were told by the kids’ older sibling that the parents went to work.

“She said her parents left the siblings in her care but she was not aware that her brother and sister followed behind her parents.

“There have been cases reported where parents were unaware about their kids following behind them and went missing.

“It is my humble plea to the parents to make every effort to know about your children’s whereabouts and before leaving the house see that they are in safe hands.”
