The Vodafone Fijians 7s team outclassed Australia 34-5 in the Hong Kong 7s Cup semifinals last night.

However, the Vodafone Fijians lost powerful winger Savenaca Rawaca who suffered a hamstring and had to leave the field.

But they never lost their composure and ran in tries to France-based forward Semi Kunatani, Jasa Veremalua, Jerry Tuwai, Osea Kolinisau and Kitione Taliga.

But it was a memorable moment from captain Kolinisau who dotted down his 100th world series five-pointer after receiving an off-load from Pio Tuwai.

Veteran James Stannard scored Australia’s only try as a Hong Kong title drought dating back to 1988 continues.

In an earlier semifinal New Zealand beat South Africa 12-7 in an epic battle that went into the second half of sudden death overtime. Regan Ware scored the winning try for the Kiwis, gleefully collecting a clever cross-kick from Kurt Baker. Lewis Ormond (New Zealand) and Tim Agaba (South Africa) were the other try-scorers.
