The Vodafone Nadi football side came from a 3-1 deficit to edge out Kiwi FC 4-3 in the Oceania Football Confederation’s Champions League clash in Auckland New Zealand yesterday.

Striker Anish Khem was the toast of the Kamal Swamy- coached side as he scored all their four goals in this crucial encounter. They Jetsetters need a win to stand a chance of qualifying to the semi-finals.

However, the Samoa-based Kiwi FC side started on a high note and scored in the second minute through Mike Saofaiga as they enjoyed an early 1-0 lead. Nadi replied six minutes later when Khem scored the equaliser from a free kick just outside the box.

But the Samoans applied pressure and scored from a Paulo Scanlan strike to take a 2-1 lead.

It wasn’t long before Saofaiga grabbed his second goal when he slammed the ball past Nadi goalkeeper Vereti Dickson.

Indiscipline crept in Nadi’s play as Napolioni Qasevakatini copped a yellow card along with Waisake Tabucava who later received his marching orders when he got his second yellow card.

Khem again pulled one back for Nadi in the 87th minute to narrow the gap 3-2 and in the dying moment of the match scored his third goal as the scores were leveled out 3-3.

Nadi maintained the pressure and a minute into extra time, Khem sealed Nadi’s win with a thunderous strike.

Both sides ended with nine players.

Red cards were shown to Nadi’s Tabucava and Dickson while for Kiwis it was Desmond Faaivaso and Lionel Taylor.
