Association Awaits Last Entries

Zones that wish to participate in this year’s Coca Cola Games will have to send in their entries by today.
The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association secretary Vuli Waqa says though the entries have already been closed, the Association gave more time because of the recent cyclone devastation.
“All entries have not arrived and we are waiting for all to come in, but I think by tomorrow afternoon (today) it should be shaping up pretty well.
Waqa said he has so far received the entries from the zones in the central division, but is still waiting the entries from Western and island zones.
He said the full list of events has not been confirmed yet but the 100 and 400 metre heats and Round 1 of the field events are likely to happen on the date. The Games are set to take place from April 28 to 30.
“I think the competitions going to be very strong than previous years but in terms of schools competing, I will also expect a slight reduction in the number of athletes.”
Waqa has also confirmed a few changes will be made in the field events.
“We have brought some changes in; some of the discus weights that they are now using we are starting to use slightly heavier weights than what we have been using in the past.”
