Fiji is an important market for families, and that’s exactly what Tourism Fiji is promoting as representatives from 15 resorts travelled around New Zealand on the Bula Marau family roadshow past week in Wellington.

Fijian representatives were putting on a brave face as they promoted the family friendly isles just as the second cyclone within weeks was threatening the islands.

However, a key message from Fiji is that it is ready for business. And those resorts still under repair, following the violent path of Cyclone Winston, in February, stood by their promised open dates at the time of the function.

Tourism Fiji’s Cameron Taylor said: “This is a family focused road show promoting family product in terms of our resorts and in terms of all the different regions.

“We are also putting across the important message that Fiji is ready for business after our cyclone setback. Agents can feel confident about selling Fiji”.

For Petero Manufolau, representing both Castaway and Outrigger resorts, the road show provided opportunity for reassurance about re-opening dates.

“At Castaway, we are closed now, but we are on track to be open on 1 June.”

Director of sales and marketing, Shashita Nand said: “Nanuku Auberge Resort was keen to spread the message that the luxury property was now open for children.

“We have now moved into the Auberge brand, and we are selling ourselves as a boutique luxury resort for families, couples, honeymooners and groups. We are very small; we also offer diversity for multi-generational travel.”
