Paradise Beverages donated a $30,000 cheque for the 29th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s which kicks off at Prince Charles Park, Nadi tomorrow.

Paradise Beverages Fiji Marketing Manager/Trade Relations Joe Rodan Snr said they were proud to be associated with Nawaka 7s.

“Sevens rugby is the talk of the town at the moment and this is an important year for Fiji as the Olympic year where we can win our first ever gold medal.

“We have been part of this tournament for the 29 years and 40 years with Marist 7s,” Rodan said.

“The organisers also have proved to use the sponsorship well in previous years and that is what sponsors need in return with developments in the community,” he added.

Tui Nawaka Ratu Asaeli Driu Naevo thanked Paradise Beverages for their partnership.

“This is our 29th year of the tournament and we are proud to continue this legacy of rugby,” he said.

Defending champions Wardens Gold, who thrashed Army Green 32-19 during last year’s grand finale, are expected to defy all odds and retain their title.

Other top teams to watch include Wardens Green, Nawaka White, Nawaka Black, and the Epeli Lagiloa-coached Tokatoka Westfield Dragons.

Vanua Levu based – Pacific Organic Navakacoa Blue Sand and Can Do Generation (Labasa) will be making their debut.
