In an effort to assist market vendor-farmers improve their agriculture productivity, a day’s training on ‘Market for Change’ was organised at Labasa Market yesterday.

The training enables the farmers and vendors to produce better quality and a greater quantity of crops while paying attention to environmental and economic sustainability.

Market for Change Labasa co-ordinator Vikash Kumar said the project was implemented by the United Nations (UN) Women in partnership with United Nations Development Programme and supported by the Australian government.

“With increasing environmental pressures and economic hardship, farmers need to practice smart farming taking advantage of modern development in business and agricultural technologies,” Mr Kumar said.

“This will help to reduce farm costs and improve farm incomes.”
