Rugby League supporters from Navosa are expected to converge today at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka to support their teams from the highlands.

Making it into the Cup quarterfinals are Valley Junior Secondary School in the Under-15 grade, St Theresa Secondary in the U17 and Navosa Central College in the U19.

Nadroga/ Navosa development officer Suliasi Cakautabu said yesterday that they are looking forward to the challenge.

“This is our home ground and the boys will be playing in front of their fans but we will go in as underdogs. We respect our opponents Ratu Navula College as we will play them in all the grades.”

Cakautabu said the schools have done their preparation and are excited to take on the task that is now before them.

“There’s no excuse we will take each game as they come and again our boys are going in there to give their best.”

Schools to watch

In an earlier interview, Nadi/Lautoka development officer Lagilagi Golea has singled out Nadi-based Ratu Navula College as the team to watch.

“Ratu Navula have got the size and power, which has really impressed me,” he said.

Golea said Fiji Secondary School Rugby League’s Vodafone Trophy (U19) defending champions Ba Provincial Freebird Institute are keeping a low profile as most of their players were affected by the cyclone.

He also indicated that Natabua High School is also a top contender and could spring a few surprises.
