The Maika Tunisa-coached-Wardens Gold are confident of retaining the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s title.

The Wardens remained unbeaten at the end of pool games at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

“We are here to take back the silverware,” he said.

“Our mission is to win the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s back to back and we are working on that. So far the tournament is tough but our team is here to defend the title.”

The Wardens Gold beat New World Warriors Kadavu 14-0, edged out Mataqe Babaas 12-7 before they humbled Vilimoni Botitu’s Mala Young Boys 5-0. In the eliminations they thumped Mataqe Babaas 19-0.

“Finishing our pool game was quiet tough and my message to the players is that we need to be tough when we come to Nadi. That is because teams from the western division are always tough.”

Robust Tevita Daugunu is among one of the rising stars for the side as he led their attacks.

Tunisa added that they still need to lift their performance as they work on their winning combination.
