Naivucini Crossing Restored

Flash floods brought on by Cyclone Zena has caused the washouts of many rural bridges. The Naivucini Irish crossing in Naitasiri was not spared and a Fulton Hogan Hiways crew is currently restoring access.
The crossing is a critical link for farmers residing in villages within the Monasavu and Wailoa areas through to Naivucini. It’s also a connection to the Monasavu Dam and the Wailoa Power Station.
FHH Naqali Depot supervisor Joe Qere said the team was backfilling the edge of the crossing on the Wailoa side. Debris, which was causing ill-flow of water beneath the crossing, is being cleared.
Much of the gravel on the Wailoa side of the crossing was swept away by the strong water flow.
Fulton Hogan Hiways is working closely with the Fiji Roads Authority to restore road and crossing accesses impacted by the current extreme downpour.
