The rainy condition did not deter the Gospel Winston appeal at Labasa town yesterday.

Event organiser Mika Cabealawa said the rain was showers of blessing.

“We have interdenominational groups present and 10 volunteers with appeal buckets through Labasa Town,” Mr Cabealawa said.

“The collection at the end of day will be directed to PM’s appeal Fund for affected people in Savusavu and Bua.”

The churches who were present for the appeal were Assemblies of God, Christian Mission Fellowship, Kingdom Light and the Pentecostal Church in Labasa.

“The churches give thanks to God for sparing the North from the two recent tropical cyclones, “ he said.

Meanwhile, children were still seen swimming in the flooded river near Boca Crossing in Labasa regardless of warnings and advisories given to the public. Public is advised to stay indoors because of flooding.
