Participants in this week’s Fiji Institute of Accountants convention at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau will get advice from an expert.

He is a New Zealander Lance Burdett. He bring wide experience presenting to varied audiences – both the Private and Public sectors – on managing challenging people and situations, on crisis intervention and on reducing personal stress,

Accompanied with academic studies up to Masters Level, Mr Burdett has developed a unique programme that combines advanced communication techniques and personal resilience support practices for everyday use.

Mr Burdett is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors, a member of the Contact Centre Institute of NZ, the NZ Director of the International Association of Hostage Negotiators and also a member of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and the North Harbour Business Association.

With 22 years of policing experience at the highest level, Mr Burdett worked in senior management positions with a primary focus on leading and developing units in: the 111 emergency call centre, intelligence management and emergency responders.

He has a track record of leading successful teams through recruitment, training, professional development, motivation and welfare support.

Mr Burdett specialised in suicide intervention and on predicting violent behaviour in his 13 years as a negotiation instructor for the NZ Police. The skills he learned through higher education and first-hand experience in varied incidents.

He is lauded for his practical training sessions tailored to the target audience and their workplace. Mr Burdett has worked with diverse groups including; customer service providers, financial institutions, legal professionals, universities, government organisations and not-for-profits.
