The Fijian Government has received a cash donation from the Solomon Islands students studying in universities around Fiji.

The donation, which will go towards the Tropical Cyclone Winston relief and recovery efforts, was received by Permanent Secretary for National Disaster Management Meleti Bainimarama from the Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Fiji, John Patteson Oti.

In handing over the donation, the Solomon Islands High Commissioner said as temporary residents of Fiji, the students wanted to be part of the relief efforts that the Fijian Government has been executing.

Mr Bainimarama thanked Mr Oti and the students on behalf of Government and said that the support exemplified the brotherhood of the Pacific nations.

The sum donated of $4805 will go towards the Prime Minister’s Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
