Wainunu chief, Turaga na Tui Wainunu, Ratu Orisi Baleitavea has hailed Government for its ‘Help for Homes’ initiative.

Ratu Orisi said his village was badly damaged and houses damaged.

“All the villages in the Wainunu district were affected,” he said.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in making this major announcement said this initiative was intended to help Fijians repair their homes themselves by giving them access to building materials.

Ratu Orisi said all house owners in Wainunu whose houses were damaged qualified for the initiative.

He said that soon after the cyclone, villagers had helped each other in building make shift homes to live in.

Most of them were living under the tents, he said.

He said in their rebuilding they would help each other to speed up the work.
