Marist 7s defending champions, CK Tabadamu, will be the team to watch at Fiji Bitter Marist 7s at the ANZ Stadium in Suva this weekend.

With their training completed on Tuesday, the team took time out to visit the Fiji School for the Blind, the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital and the Nadera HART (Housing Assistance and Relief Trust).

Speaking to the students of the Fiji School for the Blind, team coach Pio Kaberi said the team had made a commitment visit and seek blessings from the children before every tournament.

“We are going to play well, we are going to win the trophy and on that day we are going to dedicate the trophy for the Fiji School for the Blind, those who are in the hospital and those in the HART homes. This is their trophy,” Kaberi said.

Team captain Leo Naikasau said the visit was a good experience since they got to see who they would be playing for.

“It was a real blessing to visit the students of Fiji Blind Society and when we play out there on the two days we will make sure we do our best for all the children out there.”

He said, so far, preparations have been going well and they look forward to the final kick off.

Kaberi is confident about defending the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s since they have been training well for the games.

“We have a few former and national reps in our squad so our pool games will be quite interesting. I also wish to put a message out there for national rep selectors who may be scouting for players, instead of bringing overseas based players. We have a lot of good local players out there who have talent, all you have to do is give them a chance,” he said.

The Fiji Bitter Marist 7’s will kick off tomorrow at the ANZ stadium.
