Sponsors Vodafone Fiji Limited handed over $40,000 in cash bonuses to the Vodafone Fijian 7s team as they arrived into the country yesterday morning.

The team gets to share the cash bonus for the magnificent win in Hong Kong ($25,000) and reaching the final at the Singapore outing ($15,000).

Sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau said, “You have done Fiji proud once again and as sponsors, we are equally proud of your performance.

“You are all true ambassadors of the country in standing together for the heartbeat of the nation; rugby.  We are confident that the team will deliver more memorable wins for our fans as we all work together to take the gold in Rio.”

Minister for Youth Sports Laisenia Tuitubou thanked the Osea Kolinisau-captained team at the Nadi International Airport.

“I think that their performance this year has improved from last year and Ben can provide the statistics to justify that,” he said.

“I have full confidence in coach Ben Ryan, the management, team members and FRU to again deliver us to our third World Seven Series title, the second under Ben Ryan’s coaching and leadership.”

He said the Government also recognised and commended the great partnership of the consortium of sponsors – Vodafone, Fiji Airways and others.

“Your investments have borne overwhelming results in the development and creating unique Fijian brand rugby and exports of talented rugby players,” Tuitubou said.

“Let’s continue to strengthen this partnership so every Fijian and our national 7s team and players may realise and achieve their ultimate dream – that is to win Fiji’s first gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.”
