Education has no age barrier proved true for a father who was an award recipient for the TAFE certificate of excellence.

Sanjeev Kumar, 45, not only graduated from Fiji National University’s National Training and Productivity Centre with an Advanced Diploma of Management but was also an award recipient for his outstanding achievements.

Mr Kumar is a father of a baby boy who is named after his older brother and mentor Dhanjay Kumar who inspired him into taking up a career in engineering.

“My brother is my mentor and he is my buddy brother so I followed his footstep as he also is an engineering manager for AFL in Nadi,” he said.

Mr Kumar is currently an engineering manager for Vatukoula Gold Mines where he has been employed since 1997.

With the obstacles he has faced he feels delighted to have achieved so much and being able to complete his studies.

“It’s an achievement of a lifetime with all the hurdles I have faced in the process of my education whereby I lost my mother and my wife got diagnosed with breast cancer and she is fighting on and she is one of the persons that has played an important role in this award,” Mr Kumar said.

“This award is dedicated to my wife who could not make it today because she was not feeling well.

“The door for education never closes, it doesn’t matter how young or old you are, you just have to move forward, jump over the hurdles and then success will be your servant,” Mr Kumar said.
