We Will Remember Them

The words ‘We will remember them’ echoed at the Suva Military Cemetery during the ANZAC Day dawn service in Suva yesterday morning.
ANZAC Day is a national day of commemoration for the Australians and New Zealanders who had served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
Australian High Commissioner Margaret Twomey said ANZAC Day was a time to reflect on the servicemen and servicewomen who had displayed courage and self-sacrifice while serving their countries.
Ms Twomey said Australians and New Zealanders would continue to serve together across the world, including Fiji, where they worked alongside the Republic of Fiji Military Forces to provide emergency response to the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
The President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, was first to lay a wreath in their memory and he was followed by the others who were present at the service.
The commemoration service was attended by veterans of the Fijian, Australian and New Zealand defence forces, members of the Diplomatic Corps with representatives of the Fijian Government and RFMF senior officers.
