Fiji Ready To Host Championship

Eight men’s and nine women’s teams have been confirmed for the 2016 Handy Finance Oceania Volleyball Championship.
The championship is May 2 to 7 at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala Bay, Suva.
Teams from Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Tuvalu and Fiji are competing.
Games Chairman Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said the organising committee was working around the clock to ensure this year’s volleyball championship is bigger and better that what anyone has ever experienced.
“This is going to be a real test for us because everything will need to be of international standards.”
“We have the FIVB Referee’s Instructor Mr. Dean Turner flying in tonight to conduct the two-day referee’s refresher course so our local technical officials are really looking forward to that,” Vuniwaqa said.
Vuniwaqa said the Committee was also assisting teams to secure their accommodation, means of transport and catering needs.
“We’ve requested for their budgets to ensure what is provided for them is within their means. The responses have been positive and they have been happy with all the information we have provided for them to date.”
