Being the youngest in the Fijian Women’s Volleyball side may be tough, but Makereta Boleinabuli is excited about this challenge.

The young lady from Komai, Verata, Tailevu is only 16-years-old and attends St Joseph’s Secondary School.

Makereta started playing at an early age and her hard work has finally earned her a place in the national side.

“This is the first time to represent Fiji in Volleyball and I feel so excited about this. I started playing when I was in Class 6 and I find the sport fun,” she said.

Makereta said she feels great and is excited about meeting new people and getting to know players from other countries.

“I belonged to the Raiwai Volleyball Association. Currently preparation has been tough, but so far so good,” she said.

Jiuta Vateitei, who represented Fiji in the Pacific Games last year, is also the youngest in the man’s division. He is eager for a good sport in the upcoming Oceania Games. The Namuka Bau Tailevu lad is a second year student and studying B.Com at the University of the South Pacific.

“Preparations have been tough with a lot of training and managing my assignments which are due as well. So I’m trying to juggle sports and school, but I’ll do my best and see where things will go from there,” he said.
