The tsunami threat that was issued for Fiji was soon cancelled.

The earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 rocked Vanuatu yesterday morning triggering tsunami warnings in the region. Tremors were also felt in some parts of Fiji.

There was a tsunami warning that was issued to Fiji that decreased and was further cancelled and confirmed by the Department of Mineral and Resources.

“The tsunami threat does not exist for Fiji from the Vanuatu earthquake that occurred this morning therefore, the tsunami information cancellation is now issued,” a statement from Seismology Section for the Mineral Resources Department said.
