Baby’s Death Investigated

A baby’s death is under investigation, confirms Minister for Health Jone Usamate.
He said investigations are being carried out on the death of eight-month-old baby, Ivan Alvin Krishan, who died at Nausori Health Centre about 2am on Wednesday.
“We will look into the matter and talk to the doctors and nurses at CWM Hospital to know the situation from their side,” Mr Usamate said.
Ivan died on Wednesday morning from a Sepsis infection.
Sepsis is a potential life-threatening virus occurring when harmful bacteria and their toxins get into the tissue through an infection or a wound.
Mr Krishan said Ivan was fine the whole day when he got home from work; he suddenly started to cough and vomit when I put him to sleep.
“As soon as I saw Ivan vomiting, I straight away took him to the nearest health centre but unfortunately it was closed. Then I rushed him down to CWM Emergency Unit.
“When I did not have any response from the doctors and nurses at CWM, I then took him to Nausori Health Centre where the doctor there examined my son right away. However at around 2am the doctor said Ivan was dead,” he said.
“Ivan was our beloved son. He was cute and he loved to eat. He was attached to me more than his mother and grandfather.
Little Ivan was laid to rest yesterday at Wainibuku Cemetery.
