Tevita Ravulo has been nominated as the president of the Vodafone Festival of Friendly North committee.

He was nominated by the committee members during the annual general meeting (AGM) at Labasa Civic Centre last week.

The committee was formed in 2005 which annually appoints a president for the festival committee.

Mr Ravulo, who is a chief engineer at the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) mill in Labasa, said he was delighted to be given the presidential position.

“I have been in the committee for 10 years and have worked under the leadership of many Fijians,” he said.

“I am happy to note that the committee members have faith in me to carry out the good work.

It is going to be challenging, however I am going to use all my skills, strength, contacts and work as a team to make this year’s festival a success.”

Mr Ravulo, originally from Rakiraki, thanked the FSC Labasa mill general manager Karia Christopher, for giving him the opportunity to be involved in community work.

“My aim is to complete all the ongoing community projects for this year and take this year’s festival to another level,” he said.

“It has been decided during the AGM that the festival would be held during the second term school holiday at Subrail Park in Labasa.”

Those who wish to participate as queen and kings contestants, between the ages of 21 to 25, can visit the committee members with their curriculum vitae next week.
