Tourism Fiji gives USP Students A Chance To Gain Exposure At FTE

Tourism Fiji has teamed up with the School of Tourism and Hospitality, at University of the South Pacific to secure two final year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce in Hotel Management Programme as support staff during Fijian Tourism Expo this week.

Repeka Levu, who hails from Tawake, Cakaudrove, said: “This event is an eye opener to understand how beneficial it is to buyers and sellers in promoting Fiji to the outside world, as a major tourist destination.

“People can expect a good interactions between different organisations specialising in the tourism industry.’’

Another student Lidia Batikolikoli said she will get to know and interact with domestic and international delegates.

“We can gain more knowledge and experience about the tourism industry and enhancing more skills in networking,” the Komave, Nadroga, native said.

Tourism Fiji Global Public Relations Manager Patricia Mallam said, “We see this as a valuable contribution to up-skilling our future workforce.

“It is an activity aligned with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism’s Memorandum of Understanding with USP.

“This is a great opportunity for students who are enrolled in the Event Management unit, or anyone who is keen to immerse his/herself fully into the operational aspect of how Fiji’s tourism industry works.

“Tourism Fiji is offering transfers, hotel accommodation and all meals to the two ladies.
