It was a hard match for the Fiji Blues as they fought their way to beat Tuvalu 4-0 in the 2016 Handy Finance Oceania Volleyball Championship at the Vodafone Arena, Suva last night.

Fiji Blues coach Tevita Lewetuitovo was far from happy with the way they had performed as they struggled in order to stay on top.

“I was a bit disappointed with the way we played today,” he said.

“The game really tested our performance and it was a close one.”

Fiji had a strong start as they took out the first set 25-16.

Tuvalu had other ideas and with a much-improved performance they battled hard but failed to keep up with the tempo as they bowed out 26-24 in the second set.

The crowd continued to cheer them on in the third set.

The Fiji Blues continued to commit basic errors, which proved costly as Tuvalu came close to beaing them.

Lewetuitovo said there are some errors made he wished to rectify before they play their next game.

“It was playing to the crowd that distracted them. When the crowd cheered they were encouraged to spike,” he said.

Lewetuitovo added that he looks forward to the next game and believes the team who win the next game would win the tournament.
