Burly Vodafone Fijians 7s forward Viliame Mata has one thing in mind and that is to represent Fiji at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August.

Mata who hails from Nakelo in Tailevu returns to the fold after missing out the Asian leg of the 2015/16 World Sevens Series because of a knee injury.

“It has been a while sevens rugby has returned to Paris so we are looking forward to this outing,” the former Fiji rugby league rep said.

‘I want to thank the Lord for this great opportunity especially for my inclusion into the team for the last two tournaments. I feel good and ready to give my best.”

Besides being joined by the Europe-based players the Ben Ryan coached- side included 12 players who were part of the winning team from the Hong Kong 7s tournament.

Mata added that he needs to put on an impressive performance as there would be a lot of competition among the players on who is to be part of the run on team on game day.

“For me my main aim is to do my best.

“So since Rio is just around the corner and the overseas based- players are coming in it will be tough but it brings the best out of me as a player.

“There is an air of excitement brewing inside me.

“The team need the support of the fans back home which has been pushing us on as when we play overseas.”
