Investigations continue concerning the death of eight-month-old Ivan Alvin Krishan.

The baby died at the Nausori Health Centre two weeks ago.

Minister for Health Jone Usamate said: “It will take some time as we try to find out the actual cause of the death.

“We have been talking to our staff and the Assistant Minister has been in contact with the family of the deceased baby boy.”

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr Meciusela Tuicakau said: “We are doing our best to solve this matter and we have been questioning our staff to find out the people involved in this case.”

Ivan was taken to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWM) two weeks ago because he had difficulty breathing.

He was not attended to by a doctor at CWM and was taken to Nausori Health Centre where he died minutes after he arrived because of a viral infection.
