1/4 Mile Drag Race Confirmed for Next Sunday

Hello fellow car enthusiasts. We held our first event for the year the past Sunday but unfortunately, once again the weather was not on our side.

We still managed to hold the event whilst the weather was still fine until midday and finished off with the turnout we had where at least 15 cars participated.

We have good news for all those just waiting to race as we can now confirm we have set May 15 as the date for the next ¼ Mile Drag Race.

We are hoping the weather will be on our side this time and all the top guns of motor sports are all ready to rumble.

Ravin Nath, Tauz Khan, Ravi Nair – have all confirmed their participation and their vehicles are ready only the weather has not been on our side so far.

New category

We have good news for our hybrid car owners.

Looking at the increasing number of hybrids on our roads, the Fiji Car Club has decided to introduce a new category – Open Hybrid.

It is a chance for hybrid owners to come and participate as well as enjoy speeding down the tracks and testing their driving skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Also to all the women out there – we urge you to come and participate as racing is free as long as you become a member of Fiji Car Club.

Safety tip

On this note, the Fiji Car Club is also urging drivers to take responsibility of their passengers and remember they are carrying the lives of their passengers as well.

So they need to maintain their speed and drive with extra caution and care at all times.

About 25 to 30 per cent of drivers are teenagers and we know for a fact they are using their smartphones whilst driving.

We want to caution all drivers that using your smartphones while driving is a major distraction and makes you blind for a couple of seconds. These few seconds are enough to cause a major accident.

So our plea to you is to stop this practice this moment and if not for yourself, think of your loved ones and what will happen to them if anything happens to you.

Till we meet again next week, have a safe driving week.
