The New Caledonia men’s volleyball will play in the final of the 2016 Handy Finance Oceania Volleyball Championship today.

This was after they defeated Fiji Blues 3-0 at the Vodafone Arena last night.

The visitors were too strong as they won the first set 25-22.  The New Caledonians continued their dominance in the second set to win 25-16.

New Caledonia head coach Nehune Mickael said the boys played according to plan.

“Fiji Blues was not an easy team because this is their home turf and they gave us a good game but we played according to plan,” Mickael said.

“Our strength was in our young players who really did well.”

New Caledonia won the third set 25-18.

The Fiji Blues side will now play in the 3rd/4th place playoff today.

“We’ve a lot of inexperienced players compared to New Caledonia and we will try to work on our mistakes,” Fiji Blues team captain Epeli Nawalu said.
