Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto has requested the assistance of the Methodist Church to provide a minister to serve soldiers in the Middle East.

Rear Admiral Naupoto said there was only one padre serving both Lebanon and Syria under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force.

The commander thanked the church for their support and prayers for those in peacekeeping missions overseas while opening the Nabua Divisional annual meeting which was held at the Nabua Methodist Church in Suva.

Rear Admiral Naupoto was accorded a full traditional welcome ceremony at the opening on Thursday where he highlighted the role of the RFMF under the 2013 Constitution. He said the RFMF was committed to fulfill its role.

He emphasised the zero-tolerance policy the Government had on violence against women and children.

“I urge you members to continue to advise households and members of the community on the zero-tolerance on the issue of violence against women and children,” Rear Admiral Naupoto said

The RFMF Commander donated $5000 to the division.

The members of the division discussed motions and other matters as the division prepared for the Methodist Church Annual Conference to take place in August.
