Sunrise, the most popular breakfast show on Australian television, was broadcast live from Fiji for the first time.

The Sunrise Breakfast Show is viewed on Channel 7 and hosted by David Koch, Samantha Armytage while Natalie Barr (News) and Edwina Bartholomew (Entertainment) were part of the broadcast from the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island yesterday.

Tourism Fiji Global public relations manager Patricia Mallam said: “This opportunity is something that no amount of advertising spend can achieve, because of the reach and personalised attention from the show’s presenters.

“The coverage focusing on Fijian culture and the resilience of the Fijian people immediately after a severe natural disaster is also a strong element of the show, which is timely to remind Australians how different Fiji is from other destinations.”

The programme follows Seven Early News and runs from 5:30am to 9:15 am.

It is shown nationally across Australia.

In addition to the programme’s live broadcast from Denarau, the weather presenters for Channel 7 will be taken out to the outer islands as well.

The Sunrise programme in Fiji included Mother’s Day 2016 – ‘BULA to the mother of all trips’, Live weather crosses from Cloud 9, Plantation Island and Denarau Island and special features on Fiji after Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa general manager Allan Burrows said: “It’s great for Fiji to have a well known show to come to Fiji.

“It’s a great exposure to us as we come through Tropical Cyclone Winston difficulty, it’s right for us to be hosting this as it brings a lot of revenue to Fiji.”
