$4 Million Mall For Labasa Town

The $4 million S.B Khan Mall in Labasa is expected to be opened at the end of this month.
Bashir Khan, a Labasa-based businessman and president of the Vanua Levu Muslim League,is the owner of this mall.
The mall is located at Jaduram Street beside NewWorld Supermarket.
According to the initial plan the mall consisting of three storey building was supposed to be completed by February.
The construction work began late last year.
“However, due to the recent two tropical cyclones and depressions, the construction work carried out by the contractor, Jaduram Industries Limited was delayed,” Mr Khan said.
“After I returned from Singapore and Bangladesh I carried out the inspection of the mall.
The exterior work of the mall has been done.
However, most of the interior setting is incomplete.
By looking at the current situation we will only be able to do opening of the first floor for business in full operation by end of this month.
The first floor will have eatery shops, sitting arrangement would be provided where people can sit with friends to have coffee or business people can have meetings while having refreshments.
Westpac ATM and Carpenters Finance which is situated on the first floor are already operational.”
“The construction work of the second and third floor would be completed in another one month time,” he said.
He said in December the opening of the $600,000 worth of sensor escalator was done.
“I cannot reveal now as to how many shops we will have on second and third floor,he said.
“However, I am looking at 36 shops, food courts and offices in total at the mall.”
“Maybe I might have to fork out more than $4M to complete this project.
