Two Major Events Next Year

Fiji would be hosting more international volleyball competitions next year, says James Summers.
This was after the successful hosting of the 2016 Handy Finance Oceania Volleyball Championship at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last week.
Summers, the Oceania Volleyball Federation events coordinator, confirmed Fiji would be hosting two bigger international competitions in 2017.
“The set up and organisation of the championship was brilliant and Fiji will be hosting two bigger international tournaments next year,” Summers said.
He praised the organising committee for their hard work and dedication throughout the six days of competition.
“In terms of organisation, Fiji is right up there with Australia and New Zealand.
“They have a great support team, a team that’s working as hard as they can. Fiji was able to put a high level of competition in the last six days.”
Summers on Fijian teams
Summers strongly believes the two Fijian teams, Fijian Blue (women) and Fijian White (men) should now lift their preparation as they prepare for the 2017 Asian Volleyball Championship.
“The Fijian teams performed beyond expectations, winning two gold medals and it just shows the kind of character and athletes you have in this country.
“Now for the Asian Championship, the two teams now can look at their programme and got to lift their level of preparation.”
