Sevens Continue To Amaze

The wonderful game of sevens rugby, invented in 1883 in Melrose, continues to evolve and excite fans in the last eight tournaments of the 2015-2016 World Sevens Series
It certainly would be another fascinating days of rugby ahead in the last tournaments in Paris this weekend and London next week.
The focus would definitely be on our Vodafone Fijian 7s team, defending world champion, who are eight points clear on 147 ahead of South Africa.
Fijian fans should appreciate the work ethic put in by coach Ben Ryan who has turned his players into a consistent, polished and hungrier outfit.
He has brought consistency to Fiji’s play and given them the confidence to go forward even when they are chasing the game. At times they survived at the death, stealing the limelight and that depicts a mark of a quality team.
But the most pleasing aspect of Ryan’s coaching philosophy was providing pattern to Fiji’s play without losing the Fijian flair.
The Osea Kolinisau-captained team understands what he brought to them in terms of discipline, fitness, game management and nutrition.
The players lifted him at Twickenham after they won the series last year in London and again invited him to the podium after defending the Hong Kong Sevens last month.
To lead them to their first series win since 2006 and only their second in 16 years is a fantastic achievement.
The team is in pole position to defend the series and also Fiji’s first back-to-back win since the series started in 1999.
