Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said she was saddened by the continual accidents despite campaigns and pleas from the Police and Land Transport Authority to curb them.

“Investigations are ongoing and it really is sad that accidents continue to occur despite numerous pleas and campaigns by stakeholders,” Ms Naisoro said.

Three passengers in a truck and the driver of Hilux pick-up escaped serious injuries yesterday along the Nabouwalu Highway in Bua.

Ms Naisoro said the information verified by Police was that the Hilux was trying to overtake the truck when the accident took place.

She said it boiled down to attitudes and people must realise that road safety was everyone’s responsibility.
