Defending Vodafone Fiji FACT champions Labasa are in a tough pool. The Babasiga Lions are drawn in Pool B where they face current Vodafone Premier League leaders Lautoka, Suva and Nadroga.

While a tough battle is also expected in Pool A between Ba, Nadi, Rewa and Dreketi.

The 2016 Vodafone Fiji FACT pool draws was done by Wellington Phoenix striker Roy Krishna at the Hotel Takia Car Park, Labasa yesterday.

Fiji Football Association competitions manager Amitesh Pal said Krishna’s presence played an important role in promoting the tournament.

“Roy is our only professional football player playing overseas and everyone was out to meet him,” he said.

“This is the first tournament of the year and we are looking forward to it. There is a lot of interest in Labasa and we are happy to have the tournament there.”

Fiji FA vice-president Yogeshwar Singh said Vodafone has been sponsoring the tournament since 2009.

“We appreciate the long relationship and Vodafone’s support towards the development of football in Fiji,” Singh said.

The Fiji FACT will be played from June 17-19 at Subrail Park, Labasa while the semi-finals and final will be played from July 1- 3 with the venue to be determined later based on teams making the semi-finals.
