Being the lone female in her field of study failed to dampen Kinisimere Qasenivalu’s spirit.

The 21-year-old’s dreams came true after she graduated with a National Certificate in Automotive Electrical and Electronics (Level II) at the Fiji Technical College’s Dr Shaukat Ali Sahib Campus in Nadi on Friday.

Ms Qasenivalu said she was ‘over the moon’ after graduating.

She completed her programme from the Nabua Sanatan Campus in Suva.

“I am so happy today; my siblings took on office jobs, but I always wanted to be the unique one out of the family because this field is interesting,” the Bureta, Ovalau native said.

“I went to Kalabu Secondary School and reached only Year 12 so when I heard about the technical college I decided to enrol. I had these ongoing urges about improving my career options so I had to have a go at school once again.”

She thanked her parents who had supported her all the way through.

“When I told them I wanted to do this course they backed me up which was really encouraging,” she said.

Her proud mum, Raijieli Qase said it was a proud and joyful day for them.

“It is a moving day for me and my husband to see her graduate; we are so proud of her and her achievements,” Ms Qase said.

Her dad Luke Qase, 65, said: “We are so happy and we’ll keep supporting her because she is fulfilling her dreams.”
