Proud mother of four, Wainikiti Baravi, was filled with excitement after graduating on Friday at the Fiji Technical College’s Dr Shaukat Ali Sahib Campus in Nadi.

The 31-year-old Korolevu, Navosa woman was strategic in the way she routinely juggled her studies and domestic chores.

“This marks a new beginning for my family; life was so hard because my husband was the only bread-winner,” she said.

“Graduating has finally opened the door to a job opportunity for me to help my husband in raising our young family.”

Ms Baravi said there were challenges during her study programme which she needed to tend to.

“I have four children and sometimes they are sick during exams so I have to tell my teachers the problem, but they helped me out a lot,” she said.

“The Minister for Education’s speech has encouraged me that this is not the end; we must always strive for the best.

“I thank the teachers at Fiji Technical College and the Government for providing this initiative to help mothers like me realise their dreams,” she said.

Her husband Bennarr McPherson said he was very proud of his wife graduating with a National Certificate in Cookery (Level II).
