Priti Pursues Handicraft Decor

Thirty-year-old Priti Salend has been pursuing handicraft designing with the hope of showcasing her talent and also to help with family bills.
“I have been helping my husband very well with the house expenses with the cash that I earn from selling my handicraft works,” Ms Salend said.
She is married with two children and has been creating handicrafts at home.
Ms Salend said it was rare to find Indo-Fijian ladies doing handicraft creations but this was something she was always passionate about.
“I love designing and that is just putting things together and making things out of it which can later turn into a decorative item which people can use in their homes, offices, churches and it helps to brighten the look of homes and other places,” Ms Salend said.
“All my handicraft items are bought locally like the tapa, tanoa, sea-shells for the past six years,” she said.
Dozens of people flocked to her tent yesterday to purchase homemade handicraft decorative items during the ROC Market Day in Suva
Ms Salend hopes to open her own handicraft shop in the future.
